With the release of the filter HAVC v4.6.8 the colorization of movies has reached a good level of color stabilization.
I think that now HAVC can be used for serious colorization.

To have a clear idea of improvements introduced by HAVC on the colorization process it is useful to provide a comparison with DeOldify, which is still considered the benchmark for movies colorization.

I provided below some links to movies colored both with DeOldify and HAVC so that it is possible to perform a fair comparison.

1)  Movie: Invasion of the body snatchers (1956)

DeOldify: invasion-of-the-body-snatchers-1956-colorized
HAVC: invasion-of-the-body-snatchers-colorized-1956-720p

2) Movie: The invisible man (1933)

DeOldifyinvisible-man-1933
HAVCthe-invisible-man-colorized-1933-720p

3) Movie:  Stagecoach (1939)

DeOldify: stagecoach-colorized
HAVC: stagecoach-colorized-1939-720p

All the movies colored with HAVC has been colored with the settings suggested in the chapters 4.0.1 and 4.0.2 of HAVC User Guide

Have fun!
Dan

P.S.
Stagecoach is an example of movie that colorized is much better than the B&W version
will try it out this weekend, just going through the "quick start" installation procedure Smile
Dan thank you for posting these, its always nice to see the work of an expert.   I was comparing the Invasion of the body snatchers, the HAVC looks a whole lot better.  There is something a bit unnatural about DeOldify, a greenish look, and lack of red.  Keep pushing the envelope.
