x265 thumbnail problem - ssdde - 30.05.2020
when open Hybrid, using the x265 all default settings to encode, the encoded MP4 file has two problem
1) the file in windows explorer can't display thumbnails. The left is x265, right is x264

2) in Potplayer, when hover on the progress bar, can't display the thumbnails

Moved the thread since it has nothing to do with Hybrid.
1st is a problem in Windows Explorer: Personally I would add a cover to the mp4 file. Automatically generated preview thumbnails of Windows need to have a decoder which is supported by windows. If I remember correctly folks install 'MediaPreview' or 'Icaros' for this.
2nd is a problem of PotPlayer: wild guess would be that it's a problem with the decoder used; iirc CUDA Decoder doesn't work with this feature, but you better ask in the PotPlayer forum. (https://potplayer.daum.net/forum/)

but x264 mp4 file is no problem, and i've already using Icaros, only x265 encoded by hybrid has this problem, other x265 movie is no problem.
and the same , other x265 media files on my computer not has this issue, only x265 made by Hybrid has the issue. help me

Wild: guess might be related to openGop
To be sure post the Info MediaInfo reports for 'Encoding Settings' for a H.265 file that works and one that does not.
Some decoders have problems with openGop and mp4 H.265 files.

Those files use different containers.
You can also create mkv files with Hybrid if your setup can't properly handle mp4(h.265).
In case you installed some codec pack that might also cause problems if it isn't properly configured.
Installing "HEVC Video Extension" from Microsoft Store might also help. (according to a quick google search)

only install Potplayer, no other codec pack
create mkv files with Hybrid using mkvtoolnix still has this two thumbnail problem, tried

I tried this on my system and for Mp4(h.265) files installing 'HEVC Video Extension from Device Manufacturer' allowed windows to create thumbnails.

Same should be true for the "HEVC Video Extension".
My guess if mkv files have the same issue Windows lags a system wide mkv splitter or the decoder has some problem with a feature of the file.

so you mean if win10 has this, can using Hybrid to encode that resolve the two problems?

However, this was added in v1809 so it won’t install codec automatically on previous versions of Windows 10.
i'm v1809 already, and other x265 files are OK, no problem, only encode by Hybrid x265 have these two problem.

This is not an issue of Hybrid.
This is an issue of your system having problems handling the files. The files are fine.
I'm using Windows 10, version 1909, build: 18363.836.
Here only mkv files do not show thumbnails and the only thing I did was install 'HEVC Video Extension from Device Manufacturer' like mentioned in the link I posted.
For mkv files to work Windows needs a special splitter.
Since I do not plan to install anything to support thumbnails in mkv on my system I can not really help you with that.
I thought the Icaros Shell Extensions would help with mkv files, if it doesn't I have no clue.
