RE: New Hybrid install on Windows 11 - Miranda - 28.05.2026 I've run HP's diagnostics and it reports no problems with the Windows 11 install or the hardware. I've checked the EventViewer logs and all I see that might be causing the freezes are three "Event 10016, DistributedCOM" alerts. I'm at a loss to see what else it could be. I'm not particularly experienced with the innrer workings of PCs, so I'm now stuck. Do you know any way to get these issues fixed, if it is indeed these errors that are causing the problem? RE: New Hybrid install on Windows 11 - Selur - 28.05.2026 When a stress test causes freezes, it's usually either:
"Event 10016, DistributedCOM" alerts Event 10016 (DistributedCOM) seem to be a very common, non-critical Windows warning. It occurs when a background service or app tries to access a DCOM (Distributed Component Object Model) component without the required permissions. It rarely causes system crashes or performance issues and is usually safe to ignore see: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/troubleshoot/windows-client/application-management/event-10016-logged-when-accessing-dcom Cu Selur Ps.: I always deinstall all those system vendor diagnostic&co tools. RE: New Hybrid install on Windows 11 - Miranda - 28.05.2026 It's strange, I can run other apps and encode ProRes to x264 with no problem. I guess I will have to find somebody to fix the PC as I do not have any ideas what to do
RE: New Hybrid install on Windows 11 - Selur - 28.05.2026 Question is whether the cpu&gpu are as taxed when you do that, then when you use Hybrid and your filter chain? Cu Selur RE: New Hybrid install on Windows 11 - Miranda - 30.05.2026 After a lot of research and patience I was able to discover that I could run BIOS diagnotics tests, and I found that one of the four 8GB RAM sticks was faulty. RE: New Hybrid install on Windows 11 - Selur - 30.05.2026 Hope that fixes your crashes. RE: New Hybrid install on Windows 11 - Miranda - 30.05.2026 Damn, I spoke too soon. It has frozen again on another file. I guess I will have to pay for somebody to figure out what is wrong with the PC. RE: New Hybrid install on Windows 11 - Miranda - 30.05.2026 OK, I went into the PC's power settings and switched from "Balanced" to "Power saver" which so far seems to be working. RE: New Hybrid install on Windows 11 - Selur - 30.05.2026 That sounds like "Energy saving issues with cores (on systems with e-cores try disabling p-cores in bios)" could be the issue,... RE: New Hybrid install on Windows 11 - Miranda - 31.05.2026 What is an e-core system? I'm not sure what I have. |
