x265 dull video compared to x264 - frederic - 15.07.2022

Hell Everybody,

I have videos with the x265 codec, in 4K. Since all videos in this format are dull/bland/flat, I would like to have from you tips in order to transcode with Hybrid all those videos in x264, but to have videos with "perfect" brilliant / bright colors.

Any tips in this topic would be gratefully appreciated.

I tried : x264 / VUI / Color primaries : b2020 and Color matrix : bt2020nc ... nothing significant.

BR,

Frédéric

If your source is HDR and you are converting to SDR, make sure to do some tonemapping.

Not my opinion/experience so I stay out of this. Smile
