My x265 Settings for beginners that provides good quality - karthauzi - 29.10.2022

Hello,

i made some pictures of my settings using 2-pass in the x265 Encoder, this might be helpful for beginners using Hybrid for the first Time and dont want to use the Medium preset and want a bit optimzed settings which dont Cost that much more encoding Time.

i personally using 2-pass over crf because 2-pass is delivering a better quality for me then using crf 18 as example, the downside is you need nearly twice the time to encode a Clip but the Quality is outstanding and you save a good amount of filesize. For my examples i made with crf, i saved about 100 - 130 MB for an Episode of a series that goes 45 minutes on Bitrates around 1400 - 1700 kbits

If you want encode fast go for crf 18 or 17. I prefer using crf 17 in that case. But it have a Price, bigger Filesize.

Greetings.
