VVC support - QLaHPD - 11.01.2023 Apparently there is a pull request for FFMPEG to have enc/dec support for the VVC codec (https://patchwork.ffmpeg.org/project/ffmpeg/cover/20230103134040.41140-1-thomas.ff@spin-digital.com/); if this codec is added to FFMPEG, is there a plan to add it to Hybrid as well? I would love to use h266 with a GUI. RE: VVC support - Selur - 12.01.2023 Yes, once ffmpeg and thus hopefully libavsource/lsmashsource/ffms2 support it a bit later, I plan to add support for H.266 encoders in Hybrid, assuming: a. the encoders are free b. the encoders can be fed through a y4m or raw video pipe. Not going to add support for encoders that need humongous temporal files. Cu Selur RE: VVC support - karthauzi - 12.01.2023 VVC will approximately take about twice as long as x265 very slow and that is very very, very extremely slow. Unbelivable slow. https://www.wowza.com/blog/the-video-codec-landscape-2022 I will not use it due to energy costs, but will test it out for sure. |
