Subtitle files not cleaning up - ThePower - 09.05.2025

I just want subtitles passed through from source to output, as would be expected for a sane default.

Under Config>Automation>Passthrough Streams I have Subtitles checkedboxed

The problem is it extracts .sub, .srt, .idx files all over the working folder, and Hybrid doesn't delete them when finished.

Am I doing something wrong here? Huh

Since Hybrid only has basic subtitle support, it does not delete subtitles by default.
(+ I usually use subtitles mainly to add some 'watermark' and use the same subtitle file for tons of files. Angel )
If you enable "Subtitle->Import->Delete subtitle after muxing" and save that in your defaults, or enable it before loading your files, Hybrid should delete the subtitles.

Awesome thanks! Cool I have a two follow up questions-

What does Base>Stream Selection>Subtitle do? I have 5 options, which are obviously the 5 subtitle streams, but i can only pick one. The resulting video still has all 5 subtitle streams even if I pick one... The Title/Video/Audio selections above it are grayed out, despite the Audio having 3 selections. I figured it was a default selected subtitle option during playback but wanted to check here first.

Second follow up, do DVD's normally contain SubRip subtitles? I popped the DVD in to check the video I'm working on, and I have only 4 subtitle options, and 4 closed captioning option(only 1 of which work) yet the source video after ripping has a 5th option that is a subrip and none of the closed captions.. My process is MakeMKV>Jellyfin normally, but with these dvds its MakeMKV>Hybrid>Jellyfin. I don't know where these subrips are coming from... Angry

Quote:What does Base>Stream Selection>Subtitle do?
Assuming more than one subtitle detected in the source, it allows selecting the subtitle that will be used when 'Base->Processing->Subtitle->Extract& Add Subtitle' or 'Base->Processing->Subtitle->Extract Subtitle' is pressed.

Lots of DVDs do, but they often don't. Those are usually closed caption-'subtitles'.
