Color luminance of old videos - Doom83 - 16.10.2025

Usually import on hybrid some clips from movies around 2000/2005, seems there are a strange light fog/luminance, try to tweak with contrast and luminance but dont go away very much...so movie appear not very natural...whats that? Halos?
Huh

RE: Color luminance of old videos - Selur - 16.10.2025

unnatural colors could be caused by:
a. intended color grading
b. messed up color conversion (pc vs tv, from matrix used for YUV<>RGB), which nobody cared about
c. wrong/missing flags for color matrix, luma scale (Hybrid will simply guess when no flags is present)

Sure, any color filter can change the color, that is their purpose and that would fall under color grading,...

Not, that I'm ware off.
'Best' is usually highly subjective, so aside from additionally looking at the histogram also see the general change in the histogram, I don't think there is any advice.
