Hybrid 2026.10.24.1 – Issues with E-AC3 audio handling and Blu-ray playlist duration - tamo_bln - 25.10.2026 Hi Selur, Environment
When processing a Blu-ray playlist containing E-AC3 audio, Hybrid appears to identify the audio stream internally as AC3. The debug output contains the following entries: inputFormat: ac3
inputFormatExtension: ac3
-> Choose ac3 as extension for output format ac3However, the same audio stream is identified elsewhere as E-AC3. Hybrid subsequently attempts to extract the stream using FFmpeg with stream copying and an .ac3This results in the following error: [ac3] ac3 muxer supports only codec ac3 for type audioThe audio extraction job fails, and the parent job is marked as CRASHEDExtracting the same stream manually with FFmpeg using the appropriate E-AC3 muxer works correctly. Expected behavior: Hybrid should distinguish between AC3 and E-AC3 and select the appropriate format when extracting audio streams. Issue 2: Incorrect Blu-ray playlist duration Hybrid occasionally reports an incorrect duration when analyzing a Blu-ray playlist containing multiple transport stream segments. MediaInfo reports the correct overall duration, while FFmpeg reports a significantly shorter duration. The Hybrid debug output suggests that the shorter duration is subsequently used during playlist validation. Interestingly, the incorrect duration corresponds approximately to the duration of the final transport stream segment rather than the complete playlist. Other tools correctly recognize the full playlist duration. Expected behavior: Hybrid should determine the duration of the complete playlist rather than using the duration of an individual segment. Additional information Both issues were observed while processing a Blu-ray playlist under Linux. They may have separate underlying causes. A detailed Hybrid debug log is available if needed. As before, I can send you the password for the debug log again if you need it. I would appreciate your thoughts on whether these issues originate in Hybrid's stream handling or in the underlying FFmpeg/libbluray components. Thank you for your continued work on Hybrid! (and a debug output containing the missinterpretation as ac3; normally Hybrid should use eac3 as extension) With the debug ouput I can't really trace where the issue arrises, as i.e. Hybrid normally takes the length from MediaInfo not ffmpeg. Cu Selur RE: Hybrid 2026.10.24.1 – Issues with E-AC3 audio handling and Blu-ray playlist duration - tamo_bln - 26.10.2026 Hi Selur, I've attached a password-protected 7z archive containing the Level 9 debug log. I've sent you the password via PM. Hope this helps you track down the issues! Thanks again for taking the time to look into this. Best regards tamo_bln RE: Hybrid 2026.10.24.1 – Issues with E-AC3 audio handling and Blu-ray playlist duration - Selur - 26.10.2026 Thanks, will look at it later after work. RE: Hybrid 2026.10.24.1 – Issues with E-AC3 audio handling and Blu-ray playlist duration - Selur - 26.10.2026 Got no Blu-Ray with e-ac3 audio, but I tried a 'blind fix'. => Uploaded a new dev (Hybrid-2026.10.26.1-x86_64_oldGlibc.AppImage) let me know whether that fixes the problem. Cu Selur RE: Hybrid 2026.10.24.1 – Issues with E-AC3 audio handling and Blu-ray playlist duration - tamo_bln - 26.10.2026 Hi Selur, I've tested Hybrid 2026.10.26.1 with a freshly created job, and it looks like your fix has resolved the issue. The German E-AC3 7.1 audio stream is now correctly extracted as .eac3instead of .ac3and the subsequent conversion to AAC-LC 7.1 completed successfully. I also verified the resulting audio file with ffprobe, which confirmed 8 channels at 48 kHz. So far, everything appears to be working as expected. Thanks a lot for the quick fix and your continued support! Much appreciated! ![]() Ciao tamo_bln RE: Hybrid 2026.10.24.1 – Issues with E-AC3 audio handling and Blu-ray playlist duration - Selur - 26.10.2026 Nice, does it also fix the length detection? RE: Hybrid 2026.10.24.1 – Issues with E-AC3 audio handling and Blu-ray playlist duration - tamo_bln - 26.10.2026 Yes, in addition to the audio issue, the playlist length also appears to have been corrected, as it is now displayed correctly. There were, after all, two things that weren't working. Of course, I should have mentioned that both are now working correctly. I'm sorry you had to ask about it again. Best regards tamo_bln RE: Hybrid 2026.10.24.1 – Issues with E-AC3 audio handling and Blu-ray playlist duration - Selur - 27.10.2026 No, problem. Thanks for the feedback, happy that worked. ![]() Cu Selur |
