Crash when re-encoding DTS - jweaver - 08.07.2018

I will gather some logs later, but as this is apparently such an obvious issue, I thought I would ask if is known before I go too deep.

Basically, when I re-encode from DTS 1544K to DTS 754K the job crashes.

A number of weeks ago, I noticed this, and after a few attempts, I just re-encoded in AC3 instead (which works every time).. I tried to break the job down (i.e re-encde the video first whilst doing a pass-thru of the audio) and then doing the audio after, but I can never get DTS to re-encode.. Looking back at my jobs, i can see 4 over the past month that have done this with the same symptoms each time.

The Crash is whilst "encoding audio to dts with dcaenc".

Mean anything? Want me to dig a bit deeper?

What's the channel count of the dts file? (anything above 5.1 won't work, since it would require dts-hd)

Thats the answer then.. According to the status on the right, it says 8....

Is there any way to convert this down to 5.1 (6 channel), like I do when I convert to AC3?

This has got me thinking.. If I encode from 8 channel DTS to 6 Channel AC3 is the result inferior to a native 6Ch AC3?

That depends on how well the down mix was done in the first place. Smile

Cu Selur

Ps.: I added an automatic downmix in my dev version for this a few days ago, will send you a link for testing in a few minutes.

Just tried a 6 channel DTS (non-HD) and have the same issue...

Original is 1536bps.. And I am converting to 768bps.

I will take a look at your dev version, to see if that helps.

If the issue still persits with the dev version, I need a debug output and ideally a small sample.
