[BUG] "Autocrop" gets stuck on DVD source chapter selection
#1
Build : Latest dev (26.10.2024)

Problem: "Autocrop" gets stuck when a chapter from a  DVD source is selected.

Loaded a DVD source, selected chapter 2, went to autocrop : mplayer opens up in the taskmanager but doesn't do anything; no cpu/gpu use, no drive use, nothing. Hybrid must be restarted in order to get it working again.

have fun Smile

I did:
  • Start Hybrid
  • Enable "DVD input"
  • Opened a DVD
  • Set Base->Stream Selection->Chapter to "2 to 2".
  • Enabled "Crop/Resize->Base->Picture Crop" and triggered the 'Auto crop'.
=> Worked fine here.
(AutoCrop does not use the chapter selection, so the chapter selection should not matter.)
Since mplayer is picky with the naming of folders&co make sure you only have ASCII characters in your paths.
If that doesn't help, share a debug output.

Ahh, I see the problem, seems like the call is missing quotes around the path.
=> uploaded a new dev which hopefully should fix the problem
If not, please share another debug output.

Thanks for this great software.
Enable DVD input

Does this allows you to add mpeg2 DVD files into hybrid for de-interlacing and re-encoding them  into.h264 just in case someone has a DVD they need to rip and upload that is not copyright protected, a personal home movie or recording.

I tried to upload a DVD vob video file in hybrid  just for a test and I got a long error message, I did not report it because hybrid is not really a DVD  software.

I don't want to use other software for ripping DVDS because alot of them have threats on them.

Yes, DVD Input is intended for non-copy-protected content only.
Due to restrictions by law in Germany, Hybrid does not come with any software to circumvent copy protection.

Yes that's great 👍 this software is truly great.
I tried the DVD input function today and the DVD was accepted in hybrid  after I but clicked on the vdeo_TS files, it told me about 2 types of de-interlace, 1 the side panel with media info showed it as top field first but hybrid told me it was telecine 29.97 I think it asked me to use the telecine filter.

Should I listen to hybrid info or should I listen to media info panel input info?

The DVD is 720x480
NTSC

How should I set the output for .mp4 ?
Should I resize or should I leave it 720x480?
Will resizing a 720x480 DVD harm the aspect ratio and what PAR should I set it to?

Will hybrid it join all the chapters and create 1 big file because that's what I would want?

I do not see how your questions are related to the current thread. Huh

Quote:Should I listen to hybrid info or should I listen to media info panel input info?
Both van be wrong, you should let Hybrid know whether your source if interlaced or telecined.

Quote:How should I set the output for .mp4 ?
Use audio and video formats that are compatible to the mp4 container and use an output with .mp4 extension.

Quote:Should I resize or should I leave it 720x480?
That is up to your preference.

Quote:Will resizing a 720x480 DVD harm the aspect ratio and what PAR should I set it to?
Hybrids auto width/height will adjust the output width/height based on the given input PAR, target output PAR and target width/height.

Quote:Will hybrid it join all the chapters and create 1 big file because that's what I would want?
By default Hybrid encodes titles, if those have chapters, so will the output.
If 'chapters' are split over titles, Hybrid will not join them.
