SkyGo gives an error when Hybrid is running.
#1
I use SkyGo to watch TV (Sky) in my office, and I have always known that it won't play anything when Hybrid is loaded as it reports that "software capable of capturing video is running"...

I accepted this one of those things.. And in truth, its frustrating as what I am doing with Hybrid has nothing to do with Sky.. I am only using it to compress some videos, but I can understand that Skys software could detect this and this as suspicious. So I just lived with it and encoded at times when I am not watching Sky.

I just had reason to use "Handbrake" and was surprised to see that Sky did not report an a problem when this was doing its thing, even thought it was doing almost exact the same thing that I use Hybrid for.. So I just thought it was worth posting here incase anyone has any thoughts as to possible solutions/workarounds to this?

I am not using Hybrid to do do anything relating to Sky or TV.. I am simply encoding some personal videos at the same time as I am watching TV..

Anyone aware of this limitation? And perhaps know of a way to fix it?

First I hear of it (not a Sky customer).
No clue why SkyGo would assume Hybrid can capture something (since it can't).
Is this reproducible without needing a Sky account?

Does this happen if Hybrid is one started or only if a Preview is open or something similar?
(atm. I assume this is related to hardware acceleration,..)

Ps.: also check you gpu drivers, to disable special 'Overlay' stuff, this might trigger this behaviour. (Hybrid using the gpu, gpu enabling additional overlay control and potentially capturing capabilities)

Figured this would be near impossible to debug.. Let me tell you exactly what happens..

So I can be watching something on SkyGo and then load Hybrid and nothing happens. I can load a video.. Extract Subtitles, and pretty much do anything, but as soon as I start the encoding I get an error saying:

"For Information
You appear to be running software capable of capturing video.. If you want to watch the show, please ensure that all capture software is disabled and try again".

After the encoding is finished, i can then watch Sky, even though Hybrid is still running.

So I wonder if it has something to do with "ffmeg" or the "h.264 encoder" which is running as a sub-tasks during the encoding, rather than Hybrid itself?

Yes, calls to ffmpeg could cause this. Since ffmpeg has the capability to capture screens.
=> does it also happen if you use Vapoursynth ?
(maybe also enable "Filtering->Vapoursynth->Misc->Source->Always use Vapoursynth")

Just thinking outloud.. Are there any "ffmpeg" command line commands I can execute to run it outside of Hybrid to see if it causes SkyGo to throw the error.

I looked at the 'help' but I don't know what I am doing.... If it does, we would know that ffmpeg is the trigger.

Sorry.. Just saw this before that last post.. Will have a look.. Didn't even know this was an option, or even what is is..

If you look in the Jobs-tab and disable "Queue->Minimize job command lines" you can see the commands used.
(enabling DebugOutput and looking into the created debug output shows even more info)

Looking at the Filtering tab and realised I have never done anything here before..

I don't know how to enable Vapoursynth as a test. And I can't find any way to force it as whilst I have FILTERING -> VAPOURSYNTH -> MISC.. I don't have "SOURCE".

I wonder if this is because i have an older version of Hybrid? I only use it for one task, and once I got it working, I never upgraded... I have happy to upgrade to the latest, but it would be nice to know if you Vapoursynth suggestion is going to work.

Sorry, it's under 'Script' (which is next to 'Source')
"Filtering->Vapoursynth->Misc->Script->Always use Vapoursynth"

Can't tell you whether this solves your problem, but it with it Hybrid will to the decoding using a Vapoursynth script and vspipe, instead of FFmpeg.

Ps.: you will have to completely uninstall Hybrid (and it's settings) if you update from an old version.

My settings are completely different to that.. Remember I said I had a version which was a little bit old.. Brace yourself.. Its 2020.07.17.1.. Where has those 6 years gone.. I find it hard to believe I havn't updated in 6 years, but the facts are right there.

I think I need to leave you alone and get upto a current version and test again..
