[GUIDE] Newbie: Deinterlace with Hybrid
#1
Good evening everyone

I am new to this forum and to Hybrid and I am in need of some help.

Initial situation

I used VirtualDub 1.9.11 to digitize my PAL VHS Videos. I used the Huffyuv v2.1.1 codec. Custom video format: 720 x 576, YUY2/YUV 4.2.2 interleaved.

What is my goal?

I would like to deinterlace my avi videos with Hybrid. I basically want everything else to stay as it is so I can further edit (denoise, mask overscan, etc.) the avi file with Vdub2. After that I plan to convert to mp4 with Handbrake. I would like a reasonably fast deinterlacer who combines speed with quality. I do not need the best so QTGMC seems to be the wrong one.

So far I did the following:

- Load my avi file
- Set Default Container to avi
- Named my output file
- Set video to "FFvHuff" (it seems to be the Huffyuv codec right?)
- Set Audio to "passthrogh all"

Now I am basically struck. Which deinterlacer should I use now? What settings do you recommend for a good result (if possible detailed as I have zero experience with deinterlacing)? How do I find out if my videos are BFF or TFF (I assumed BFF).

Thank you very much for your help.

Kind regards,

Fabian
