QTGMC Now Crashing Hybrid - Header too large?

Hello, I've been using Hybrid successfully for years now to deinterlace with QTGMC (and convert colorspace from 601 to 709).
One day, it started crashing every time I attempted to deinterlace (with whatever version I had been using successfully for a long time). I updated to the latest Hybrid version and am having the same issues.

My Hybrid version is 2026.03.21.1 on Windows 10 64-bit.

My typical workflow is:

Input an Uncompressed AVI, ProRes 422 HQ, or FFV1 Matroska
Processing-- Video: ProRes / Audio: passthrough all
Encoder: Standard / Profile: 422 HQ
Deinterlace-- QTGMC Vapoursynth / Preset: Medium / Bob: Yes
Vapoursynth-- ColorMatrix: From 601 to 709

^and that's it! This also happens whether or not I engage the colorspace conversion.

I keep getting the errors:
FFmpeg output: [in#0 @ 000001f68a421a80] Header too large.
[in#0 @ 000001f68a420480] Error opening input: Invalid argument
Error opening input file -.
Error opening input files: Invalid argument

...and then:
process finished with exitcode: -22 and exitStatus: 0

Attached is the Debug output. Unfortunately, I'm not super tech-savvy when it comes to this stuff, mainly just doing basic conversions in ffmpeg and then of course this wonderful GUI I can't wait to use again.

BasicVSR++ temporal jumps at group boundaries

I'm using VapourSynth/Other/BasicVSR++ to restore a DVD source. The output has noticeable temporal inconsistency – the background jumps every few frames, especially in long shots.

I suspect this is due to chunk processing. Increasing length to 150 makes those 150 frames coherent, but the jump reappears exactly between frame 150 and 151. It seems the model doesn't handle boundaries well.

Is there a way to process with overlapping windows (like a sliding window with crossfade) to smooth out boundary jumps? Or any other recommended approach to maintain temporal continuity across groups?

Dear Selur,
I am writing to ask for help. I have downloaded the March version of the software, installed it and after trying to open, the following message has appeared: C:\Program Files\Hybrid\64bit\SvtAv1EncApp.exe" --version' didn't get started after 5 seconds -> aborting,... Restarting Hybrid might solve the problem,... The cause might also be some incompatibility with the tool and your system.
I use Inter 265K CPU. Maybe you have newer dev version?

SVT-AV1 + Vapoursynth encode error

Tested on Hybrid_dev_2026.08.19-185814 and Hybrid_dev_2026.08.13:

Choose svt-av1 as encoder, load a input file, don't enable any filter in vapoursynth, set an output file, add to queue, start the job, no error happens.

Choose svt-av1 as encoder, load a input file, enable at least one filter in vapoursynth, set an output file, add to queue, start the job, an error like "2026-08-20@22_24_43_7310_03_video crashed: Error: Invalid parameter '--input' with value '\\.\pipe\2026-08-20@22_24_43_7310_03_video' will happen.

One more thing: In Hybrid_dev_2026.08.19-18581, if I enable KNLMeansCL and YUV420 chroma location in Vapoursynth -> Misc -> Script, the script looks like this:

maybe missing comma?

In Hybrid_dev_20260625-152245 it is:

Get every vapoursynth plugin on arch linux

how can I install every vapoursynth and tools for hybrid on arch?!?! and when I'm going to use some filtering I always need to install it and another problem that I'm having it's that it cannot find the plugins even though I installed them like this qtgmc that I already installed the havsfunc but hybrid seems to not detect it. Soo I have an question. Why Hybrid on linux doesn't come bundled with all vapoursynth plugins unlike on windows??? and before anyone asks me yeah I tried this plugin bundle https://github.com/drfear-zz/Hybrid-Vapo...-installer but even than there is an lot of outated sources so causing an lot of missing plugins.

Crash when loading PAL MiniDV DV file on macOS Sequoia

Hi Selur,

I followed your instructions and enabled Create debug file under Config → Internals. I did not change the debug level.
I can reproduce the crash when loading a PAL MiniDV DV file.

System:

Hybrid 2026.07.12.1
macOS Sequoia 15.7.7
Apple M4 Max
64 GB RAM

DV file:

720×576
PAL, 25 fps
yuv420p
4:3, SAR 16:15
DV 28.8 Mbit/s
PCM audio, 32 kHz, stereo
two audio tracks
interlaced, Bottom Field First

The crash happens during the automatic analysis after loading the file.
The last messages in the log are:

Scan order changed from to bottom field first

ASSERT failure in QList::insert: "index out of range",

file /Users/selur/Qt/6.11.1/macos/lib/QtCore.framework/Headers/qlist.h, line 949

The material is actually Bottom Field First. I cannot say whether changing the scan order is the cause; it is simply the last logged action before the crash.

I have attached the HybridDebugOutput.txt as requested.

The crash is reproducible with this particular DV file.

Please let me know if you need a sample of the DV file or any additional debug information. I am not very familiar with debugging, so I may need some guidance on how to provide it.

Fixing a 8½ year old bug in ColorMatrix for AviSynth

I use this filter when I have videos that have no VUI metadata, and it will need to be *something* or the video will render incorrectly on various sites and players. Usually this needs to be BT.709 for all three (Color primaries, Transfer characteristics, and Color matrix).

This is my preferred workflow in Hybrid using AviSynth for this:

Filtering -> Misc -> Overwrite input color matrix -> Rec.601
Filtering -> AviSynth -> Color -> Matrix -> Rec.601 to Rec.709
x264 -> VUI -> Color Primaries / Transfer Characteristics / Color Matrix -> all to 709

I've been using this for a long time now, and I only *just* discovered that there is a slight color shift that shouldn't be happening. This color shift doesn't happen with Vapoursynth.

Instead of complaining about it here, I used AI. I know that is probably frowned upon, however, it seems to have correctly identified the problem and vibed out a fix.

Here is the shift that I had:

The above is an animated PNG. It shows the original frame capture for 1 second, then the frame capture output from Hybrid using the above workflow for 1 second, then repeats.

It is *not* that noticeable, however, it *is* incorrect. Look closely at the green grass and you will see it shift to a slightly more yellow shade. The blue sky also shifts, although it is not as immediately noticeable as the green grass shift, at least for me.

The AI (in this case, ChatGPT 5.6 Sol at the Pro reasoning level, which is the current highest) determined that the image is actually shifting from FCC → SMPTE 240M instead of from Rec.601 → Rec.709.

This is because the sorayuki build back in February 2018 added Rec.2020 support, but did so incorrectly. Adding Rec.2020 changed the total supported matrices from four to five. However, its constructor was never changed to multiply by five. Therefore, its results were skewed:

I tested this in Vapoursynth: I did a color matrix conversion from FCC → SMPTE 240M, and the same frame showed the exact same color shift that is happening when doing a color matrix conversion from Rec.601 → Rec.709 in AviSynth, which seems to confirm what the AI determined.

I'm not sure how, but it was able to patch the two binaries that Hybrid currently uses:

colormatrix.dll

I tested the above two binaries and they seem to be working correctly. They are the same file sizes as the ones that ship with Hybrid.

It was also able to compile the following two binares from its vibe-coded source:

ColorMatrix64.dll
colormatrix.dll

These are smaller sized binaries. I tested these as well, and they also appear to be working correctly.

Not sure if you want to use these as they are vibe coded, however, at least they are correct now.

(I was only able to test Rec.601 → Rec.709.)

Some picture-based buttons are not recognized by Wayland.

Hello forum.

So, long story short, I'm trying to launch Hybrid on Linux (Pop_OS!) via Bottles. It's honestly the best way to run the thing on Linux.

However, while Hybrid runs flawlessly, it appears that some of Hybrid's buttons aren't registring when clicked. I think these are the buttons that were implemented as images with a click event, for example:
- start workers (the icon of a guy with the shovel in the 'base' tab)
- preview (the icon of the film frames under 'filtering' tab)

Basically none of them work. Other buttons that actually use the button GUI element work just fine. I know it's probably a Wayland issue, but I was wondering whether these icons could be replaced with proper buttons to make the application usable.
