[BUG] Crash when encoding

Thanks for the PM.

Unfortunately, this looks like the end of the road for me. I can no longer run this. Crashes at "init model defaults" every time.

It's probably the system I'm running it on. I know there just isn't enough data or any real way to determine what exactly is wrong. So that leaves me stuck on version 06.21.1 and lower with no support. CRAP.

I don't get the crash on version 2020.06.21.1. Do you know what might have changed?
