Setting to change aq=2:1.00 to aq=1:0.00
#1
Hi and thanks for this great program!

I'm experimenting with Hybrid yo deinterlace vhs. After some tests I chose the video which I liked best and tried to reproduce the result, but I got a slightly different result.
In the media info encoding settings are all the same except the last entry, aq=1:0.00 in the result I want and aq=2:1.00 when I thought I had the same settings, but apparently not.

So my question is, what setting in Hybrid changes aq=2:1.00 to aq=1:0.00?

Sorry if it's a dumb question, I'm no expert (yet Wink ).

Hi Selene,

for x265, AQ1 is normal

AQ0 = none, AQ1 = normal, AQ2 = Auto, AQ3 = dark opt and AQ4 = Auto - Edge
On the right side from that, you can change the AQ Strengh.

[Image: nZujKCG.png]

When you are using x264, AQ1 is manual

Not everything in MediaInfo is correct, psyrd is mostly wrong as far as I could see.

Greetings

Thank you for your reply.

I changed Adaptive quantization to manual 2,00 but I didn't get the same result. Twice the filesize, in media info it says aq=0.

I'm pretty sure I didnt change anything in the Quantization tab when I got the best result. Hybrid doesn't keep logs of all encoded video's I suppose?

The "best result" I got was a little less grainy, looked slightly better in my opinion.

I thought I used these settings:
Quote:  p, li { white-space: pre-wrap; }

x264 --preset superfast --crf 20.00 --profile high --level 4.1 --ref 3 --direct auto --b-adapt 0 --sync-lookahead 4 --qcomp 0.50 --rc-lookahead 40 --qpmax 51 --partitions i4x4,p8x8,b8x8 --no-fast-pskip --me hex --subme 5 --aq-strength 2.00 --vbv-maxrate 62500 --vbv-bufsize 78125 --threads 4 --sar 1:1 --qpfile GENERATED_QP_FILE --non-deterministic --range tv --colormatrix bt709 --demuxer raw --input-res 736x564 --input-csp i420 --input-range tv --input-depth 8 --fps 50/1 --output-depth 8 --output "C:\Users\SM\AppData\Local\Temp\TST 5.264" -

Side-question, in x264,base, I left preset at "none". So why does it say preset superfast in configuration?
It says the default preset is medium in the help window on the right, but when I change the preset from none to medium the configuration changes to:
Quote:  p, li { white-space: pre-wrap; }

x264 --crf 20.00 --profile high --level 4.1 --sync-lookahead 6 --vbv-maxrate 62500 --vbv-bufsize 78125 --sar 1:1 --qpfile GENERATED_QP_FILE --non-deterministic --range tv --colormatrix bt709 --demuxer raw --input-res 736x564 --input-csp i420 --input-range tv --input-depth 8 --fps 50/1 --output-depth 8 --output "C:\Users\SM\AppData\Local\Temp\TST 5.264" -

So what is the "none" preset?

Anyway, the result I get now is still very good and better than what I got with Handbrake/yadif, so if it's not possible to find out what configuration I used for that video It's not the end of the world. I'll save the settings I use from now on Wink .

Not unless it's told to create report files (Config->Internals->Create report file), then it creates a report for each created file.

Quote:I left preset at "none". So why does it say preset superfast in configuration?
a. presets need to be selected and applied (not just selected)
b. by default, Hybrid minimize the command line (can be disabled through x265->Misc->Random Stuff->Minimize command line)

Quote:It says the default preset is medium in the help window on the right, but when I change the preset from none to medium the configuration changes to:
x264s default preset is preset medium, Hybrid's default preset is not.

Quote:So what is the "none" preset?
Preset 'none' does nothing when applied, other presets apply to the settings specified by that default.

could be converted to command line parameters using https://github.com/Selur/Mis2x265

Also, please don't full quote posts from others, since it makes reading your post unnecessary complicated.
