Selecting a folder for installation
#1
I ask you to return the ability to select the folder where the Hybrid will be installed. My SSD has a capacity of 256 GB. Together with the installed add-ons, the Hybrid folder is about 45 GB in size.
#2
I never removed that option from the installer.

No clue why you think this isn't possible,...
When installing Hybrid, I see:
1. The language selection:

2. Usage Agreement:

3. Selection of the install folder:

Dev versions are in the 'experimental'-folder of my GoogleDrive, which is linked on the download page.

Thank you! During installation, a different default language was selected. I selected English, and after that the folder selection appeared.

I am now trying to re-install Hybrid plus the HAVC filter to see if that solves my Deep Exemplar and Deep Reference CRASH problems.
However, I am having the same problems as in the previous post: The installer won't let me select the install folder!
It goes straight to C:\Program_Files\Hybrid\   I want it to go to C:\Hybrid but I can't do that.
Changing the installer language as proposed earlier does not help either. Solution please? Copy everything from  C:\Program_Files\Hybrid\  to C:\Hybrid  ??

Rick, first uninstall Hybrid, I also removed the Hybrid folder if it remains.  Then Try to reinstall it and you'll see the option.  BTW, I very much enjoyed watching videos on your youtube channel, great job!!!

Thank you very much. I am glad you enjoy my Rick88888888 Youtube channel.

This Hybid stuff has given me a headache today: installing the recent HAVC version VapoursynthR72_torch_2025.11.01.7z also broke the only remaining colorization mode:
ColorMNet. I am now trying Selur's stuff from his experimental folder: versions Hybrid_dev_2025.12.27-101558.exe and VapoursynthR72_torch_2025.11.17.7z

UPDATE: The versions in Selur's experimental folder work in ColorMNet mode and also in Deep Exemplar mode: HOORAY!!
However, Deep Remaster immediately crashed with exit status 0. But I don't care, because Deep Exemplar is great.

So my earlier conclusion that some older Hybrid and HAVC versions are incompatible must be correct. Something Selur and Dan64 will hopefully look into.

Comparing ColorMNet with Deep Exemplar leads to another important conclusion: Deep Exemplar's results are much, much better! More consistency and color stability, brighter video and the reference frames are followed during a much longer time span! No ColorMNet for me anymore!

Tip: Switch "Normalize" and "Vivid" on and set the Preset to "slow" for best results. The "Weight" control has no use.

I don't agree with your conclusions, I colored the example clip described in my HAVC User Guide, available on: https://archive.org/details/casablanca-1941-hd-trailer with models:

I provided about one reference frame in every 30, the final color clips are similar but Deep-Remaster is the one that provides the most washed out colors (Deep-Remaster need more frequent frames, at least 1 every 5).
Of them only ColorMNet (no-vivivd) and Deep-Remaster were able to handle the inconsistency of change of jacket color from white to light blue obervable at time 0:49.
While ColorMNet (vivid) in my opinion is very similar to Deep-Exemplar.

Regarding Deep-Remaster I colored the clip using this script:

import vapoursynth as vs
import sys
import os
core = vs.core
# Import HAVC
import vsdeoldify as havc
VideoPath="casablanca (1941) HD Trailer.mp4"
RefDir="ref_qwen"
clip = havc.HAVC_read_video(source=VideoPath)
# adding colors using HAVC
clip = havc.HAVC_main(clip, FrameInterp=0, ColorMap="none", ColorTune="none", BlackWhiteTune="none", EnableDeepEx=True, DeepExMethod=4, DeepExPreset="medium", ScFrameDir=RefDir, ScThreshold=0.10, ScThtSSIM=0.00, ScMinFreq=0, ScNormalize=True, DeepExModel=2, DeepExEncMode=0, DeepExVivid=True, DeepExMaxMemFrames=20, enable_fp16=True)
# adjusting output color from RGB24 to YUV420P10
clip = core.resize.Bicubic(clip=clip, format=vs.YUV420P10, matrix_s="709", range_in_s="full", range_s="limited")
# output
clip.set_output()

Well, I tried to attach both mp4 results for comparison, but the forum limitations won't let me. I can send them to you by WeTransfer if you wish.
I use 12 seconds scenes and on average 6 reference frames for that. Especially with one reference frame (attached) the colours stay vibrant in DeepEx for the rest of the video whereas with ColorMNet only that specific frame looks good, but all subsequent frames lose all their splendor and are washed out.

Sorry, but I don't know Python so these scripts don't help me.

I am making a ca. 30 minute video about the London Blitz, so with about 900 reference frames (1 every 50 frames) I hope that should be enough. It will cost me 2 weeks to do (for my Rick88888888 Youtube channel). Colorizing every frame with Google Gemini is already a big drama: Nano Banana is very quirky and ignores prompts 70% of the time and often creates fantasized crap, despite properly formulated prompts (made with the help of Gemini itself).

Here is such a prompt:
"Apply P1 protocol: Perform a Static Chromatic Overlay only. Use 100% saturation and vibrant hues. CRITICAL INHIBITION: Disable all generative filling, object completion, and texture synthesis. Do not modify, add, or 'improve' any shapes or pixels. Execute a direct 1:1 color-to-pixel mapping of the original frame only. Immediate action, zero commentary."

Thank you very much for helping me. I am very pleased that you are working so hard on your Vapoursynth colorization filter.

If you have a PC with a RTX4070 or above, try to install ComfyUI: https://www.comfy.org/download

ComfyUI is a little complex to use but is very powerful and there is a lot of documentation available, see: https://docs.comfy.org/

Once you have installed ComfyUI, download the workflow for Qwen Image Edit (similar to Nano Banana but free):  qwen-image-edit-2511

Once you have the workflow loaded in ComfyUI, load a B&W image that you want to colorize.

Then change the prompt include in the example with:  "Colorize this black and white photo with realistic, vibrant colors while preserving skin tones. Strictly preserve all shapes, edges and background details."
