[BUG] Full length Media speed !
#1
Helluh,

I have yet again, an odd case on my hands here Dodgy  ..

I have made a custom preset with filters to cleanup / upscale sd / dvd content .   That mainly uses a combo off ESRgan+QTGMC  and sRestore , intensive gpu filters ..
To do that , i first created an small sample from the full length source..  And everything worked out just perfect.. My gpu (speeds) is / was fully utilized ..

NOw, when i take the full length media file, suddenly hybrid works at crawling speeds of like 1 - 2 fps from the near 20 fps i got whit the sample 🤔 !??

First i suspected the container (TS) holding back the speed, since the sample wos contained in a mkv format.. But the same thing happends whit the complete media file that i remuxed to mkv !!??

I bet, sRestore has got something to do with it ..
Since, i had to enable "linear" checkbox to up the encode speed again ... !

But now doesn't seem to work on a complete media file 🤔

Both debug files from the succesfull sample and the full length media file is in the attachement .

... update... it's looking brighter / closer to the accepted speeds ;. but not there yet..

I have adjusted the amount of threads to the amount my specific cpu has in hybrid settings to → 24 Threads.

And speed went up from 1 -2 to near 8fps.. gpu however still at low performance of 30 -  50% instead of → 80 -  90% !

sRestore with 'linear' is a bottleneck, nothing you can do about it unless you find someone who can convert the script into a proper filter program which performs better.

Yes, i have read sRestore is somewhat broken ..

But then again, why did it work just perfect on a sample of 3 mins , but doesn't on a complete media file of proximately 45 min  Huh ?

sRestore acts up , only and because of the duration from the media file 🤨 ?

Come to think of it, the media clips is 50fps, hence the need for sRestore.. maybe the fps from the source has something to do with it too ..!?

thanks anyway

Maybe reading: https://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=184852 helps to understand what is happening and why.

It's confirmed.. → Source FPS and/or duration is hindering something about sRestore !
Just processed another SD / dvd media file that is 25fps, and i got normal speeds using sRestore .. 🤔

Maybe a tweak here & there would solve overcome this issue ..

.. just have tested this, and an easy workarround to maximize gpu / cpu utilization & performance is to run several jobs in parallel  ☝️😁
