Missing Half of Movie
#1
Hello,

I am trying to re-encode/compress a movie for my plex server. When I ripped the Blu-ray using MKV, it ripped the whole video, as expected. But when I input it into Hybrid (2025.03.09.1), It seems to only extract about the first 40 minutes of the movie, as well as about 40 minutes of the subtitles. This is a weird one, and I didn't really come across anything similar in the forum. I encoded a different movie tonight using the same process and didn't have any issues. Not sure if the issue is with the disc. But if it is, why does MKV pull the whole video while Hybrid is only decoding about 40 minutes of it? Debug attached.

x264 reports "encoded 58648 frames, 151.71 fps, 5062.75 kb/s" which is about a third of what MediaInfo reported (156142).

Do I assume correctly, that the Vapoursynth preview also only shows 58648 frames?
Does changing, the decoder change this? (maybe there is something in the file that causes problems for the hardware decoder)

Ps.: also try whether using the latest dev changes anything. (don't think I changed anything there, but better test it)

Yes, the Vapoursynth preview only shows 58648 frames. Also, I don't know if info is useful, but MKVextract only gets to 37% progress when extracting subtitles and then finishes. Also, I tried changing decode settings to use ffmpeg and that didn't change any results. I still need to test the Dev verison.

You need to adjust the settings so that Hybrid will use another source filter in the Vapoursynth script. (no clue what you changed)

Sounds like something is wrong with the file.

If you play back the file in MPC-HC and similar, the file plays through the complete clip without problems, right? (it does not glitch somewhere)

It plays just fine in VLC.

I tried to see if using my workaround from this thread would work (Unexpected Speed or FPS), but MKVToolNix only exported the same duration of the file. I checked the MKVToolNix output log and it read:

"kax_file_c::read_next_level1_element(): an exception occurred (message: end of file error / Data error (cyclic redundancy check); type: N3mtx5mm_io13end_of_file_xE). This usually indicates a damaged file structure. The file will not be processed further."

Seems lke Something with the file/container structure is broken
You might want to check your disks, ram, etc

Okay. So, you know how some Blu-rays have multiple basically identical titles for the same movie when using MakeMKV? I just ripped one of the other ones, and it worked!

Ah, okay, so nothing to fix in Hybrid
