Changing profiles made easier?

When changing a profile from the drop down I am required to also press the apply button for it to be implemented.

Is it possible to change profile without having to click this button? By just choosing an option?

And perhaps also would be good having the profile drop down choice menu with autosave visible on all pages, so that you always is sure of which profile you are using at the moment and can change and compare on the fly?

Different profiles&Co are visible in different sections of the gui, I don't plan to change this.
