A field-shifted/blended source is not truly interlaced.
Instead, the fields originate from the same frame, but one field is vertically shifted by one line (or half a line), making it look like it is interlaced when it actually isn’t.
So, the two fields are from the same moment in time but spatially misaligned.
Looks like interlacing but shows "ghosting" or jitter instead of combing.
Deinterlacing produces poor results because there's no actual temporal difference to work with.
=> using a field matcher like TFM/VFM is what needs to be done
(for IVTC you use field matching and a decimation, for field-shifted/blended content you just use the field matching)
