Just in case: Vapoursynth is installed in my system. I can run vspipe in terminal.

Check in vsViewer Edit->Settings->Paths.

Hi!! Just created an account to follow this thread, I'm having the same error, I want to do some deinterlace + upscaling of some Mini DV media that I have and I'm having the same error in vsViewer, added the paths but still, the same thing Sad

In the end when I try to render the video I get the error that the file wasn't created and crashed.

I've attached some screenshots, hope it helps to debug!

Thank you so much for your effort in making Hybrid available in ARM Smile

By the way, I'm using a macbook air M4

Paths look fine.
What does 'vspipe --version' output, when called inside a terminal?
I see:
VapourSynth Video Processing Library
Copyright (c) 2012-2025 Fredrik Mellbin
Core R72
API R4.1
API R3.6
Options: -

Hmm,... from the looks of it brew now only can install VapourSynth R73, will have to test whether it makes a difference here if I update to R73,..
=> okay, I get the same error when using R73 Angel
So now I know why it happens,... but from the looks of it brew does not offer installing the older R72 Sad

Oh sorry for putting you in the same error as me now!! At least you figured it out what's the problem, I will try to see if I can figure it out how to install a older version through brew!!

Forget it, just searched a lil bit and unfortunately it's literally impossible! I hope we found a solution soon, thank you so much for all your effort!

Only solution I can think of atm.:
1. adjust vsViewer to work with R73 (that will take time)
2. find a way to install Vapoursynth differently on macOS (to be forced to switch to Vapoursynth XY whenever the Vapoursynth folks adjust the hoembrew support kind of sucks)

It is possible to install Vapoursynth R72 using the old vapoursynth.rb
What I did:
  • downloaded the vapoursynth.rb file
  • created a new brew tab:
    brew tap-new selur/vapoursynth
    this creates:
    "/opt/homebrew/Library/Taps/selur/homebrew-vapoursynth"
  • copy the vapoursynth.rb into the Formula-folder of the new brew-tab:
    cp ~/Downloads/vapoursynth.rb /opt/homebrew/Library/Taps/selur/homebrew-vapoursynth/Formula/
  • uninstall the current R73 Vapoursynth install
    brew uninstall vapoursynth
  • install the old R72 using the copied formula:
    brew install selur/vapoursynth/vapoursynth
with this, vsViewer works fine for me.

If someone has the time and motivation: Patches to https://github.com/Selur/vsViewer to support R73 are welcome.

Ps.: This is not really a good solution, but a workaround for now. So another hurdle that hinders me from a proper macOS release. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I didn't had vapoursynth not even last week ago, so maybe one way would it be doing a backup from someone who was the R72 installed in some machine and substitute the files from the newer version with the old one! I just want to have Hybrid working, don't care if it's version R73 or R72

Oh just saw your post, forget it about everything I said lmaoo
