So I tested one of my PAL 25 fps discs and it is interlaced. Based on what you wrote, I definitely want to double the frame rate now. So, I imported it into Hybrid and under (De)-Interlace/Telecine I checkmarked Overwrite input scan type to: top field first (since I confirmed from my tests and scans that TFF is indeed the scan type). So I would select QTGMC Vapoursynth, right? And then check Bob. For the preset, should I keep it at the default of Fast or go for a slower rate? I was thinking about either Medium or Slow (but not going below the latter).
I've seen chats on the forum here before where you recommend not to select Placebo or even Very Slow. You had provided a link and so I read up on the cons of modifying the presets to slower rates.
