[HELP] Can't generate previews in the Filtering tab
#1
Hello everyone.

I want to de-interlace some files of digitized VHS tapes using the famous QTGMC algorithm and i installed Hybrid for that,
but I am running some problems that i have no idea what to do to fix.

The files are:
.mpg (mpeg-2, made using a simple software called LightCapture that came with my USB adapter)
.AVI (made using VirtualDub with the HuffUV codec).

The problem i am running now is that I can not generate previews in the "filtering" tab.

The flow is:
First, I insert the path of the .mpg and .avi files in the "BASE" tab.

Then i click the preview icon (the icon with a play button and an eye inside a film strip) in this tab,
and the video plays without problems.

In the Crop/Resize tab, also, the video plays OK, no problems so far.

But in the Filtering tab i can not generate any previews, for different reasons for .mpg and .avi.

[.avi case]
I click the icon and, for the first time i click I can see the mouse showing like it is loading something,
but nothing happens. The subsequent clicks do nothing at all. NADA.
It is like i clicked nothing.

[.mpg case]
The first time i click the button shows, in the program header
some percentage followed by - (DGindex), like  "16.00% - (DGindex)"

By program header, i mean the bar that usually shows "Hybrid 2025.11.09.1"
and the icons - □ X , to minimize, maximize and close the windows.

But after that i get an error message. I uploaded a photo here to show the error.
DGindex happens only once, from now on i get only the error message.

What can i do to fix both AVI and MPG?

Sorry if i am doing something really stupid.
I just wanted to start testing several configurations and i can not even get started...
From second 1 i am already getting those problems and it is really frustrating...

Thanks in advance.

The first two preview just showed the source played back by mplayer.
The preview with the error, was the Vapoursynth Preview.

Sorry, with that info: No idea.
Since it's an avi using telling Hybrid to prefer AviSource through "Filtering->Vapoursynth->Misc->Source->Prefer AviSource for .avi input" might help.

This indicates that the source file is indexed by DGIndex which MpegSource needs to decode the file.
If you abort this, decoding will fail.

That error either indicates that there is a problem with either the decoding of the source or the created index file by DGIndex.

Assuming your files have no broken indexes, headers or similar, I would suggest:
a. read the sticky and provide a separte debug output of each of the problems if the other suggestions don't help
b. for the avi: try telling Hybrid to prefer AviSource
c. for the mpeg: clear your temp folder (when Hybrid is closed), and retry it

General advice:
1. move your temp folder to a folder that isn't in your AppData folder, since some virus scanners run amok otherwise.
2. try the dev version (deinstall previous version completely before installing it)
3. set exemptions to your virus scanner for the input, output, temp and Hybrid paths (you can see the current paths under Config->Paths)
4. always, read the sticky and provide a separate debug output for each of your problems.

Dev versions are in the 'experimental'-folder of my GoogleDrive, which is linked on the download page.
