[HELP] Capture from 1970s Umatic tape problem

Just received a ProRes capture from a 1970s Umatic broadcast master tape.

There seems to be some sort of ringing to the right of faces, resulting in a sort of double/triple halo. Is there any way of removing or reducing this with Avisynth?

(multiple halos, usually mean multiple sharpening filters applied way too strong, or something is broken)

Will you loose details: Probably, Yes.
What you basically need to do is add multiple dehalo filters and maybe add additional masking to them.
If you want to do this with Avisynth in Hybrid you will need to add a bunch of custom code.

My suggestion would be to get accustomed to LGHost (in Hybrid only available through VapourSynth, but there is a AviSynth port of it).
Base idea is:
1. use LGhost (apply it masked)
2. add additional DeHalo filters (maybe add additional masking)
3. add some denoising

Can I add LGHost to Hybrid/AviSynth?

Sadly Hybrid no longer runs Vs on my older W10 PC, only Avisynth. It used to work fine but stopped after a Hybrid update.

I've not been able to get Hybrid to run on the M1 Mac either, it is too complicated for me.

Sure you can use Avisynths LGHost in a custom section, but you will have to load the plugin and write the code yourself.

Ps.: no clue what Vapoursynth would not work for you on Windows 10 (since R74, this is the lowest supported, but on my Laptop with Windows 10 it works fine)

I'm using hybrid on a Windows 10 64 machine without any issue.  just delete any hybrid folder from program files, appdata sub folders related to hybrid.

Can you let me know where the related Hybrid folders are in W10 and I'll delete them and try a reinstall.

1. Uninstall Hybrid (ideally with settings)
2. Make sure your old Hybrid folder got deleted completely

???? If you load any old preset, profile or similar, load it save it again and load it again, before trying to use it.

I don't have any saved pre-sets. Can you add the missing file here and I'll copy it to the folder.
