Hello, I’d like to know what I can do to try and improve this U-Matic copy I have. Unfortunately, this is the only version I currently have access to, so a new digitization isn't possible. What bothers me most are the spots, the reddish tint, the excessive noise, and the lack of sharpness. I’d also like to try upscaling it to 2K; what do you recommend?

Argh, that content wasn't deinterlaced properly, chroma is shifted, colors are messed up.
Something like (note the filter order isn't the default) https://pastebin.com/4QseLSKQ (without the resizing) might be a start:

I doubt there are any details to find/sharpen/improve, anything other than some machine learning (diffusion) based resizer will probably not help.

I took a small cut and tried SeedVR2 on it and got this. (doesn't seem worth the compute)
Maybe Topaz Astra or similar can invent some details,...
