There are no 'this makes sense and works for everything' options, also it's not really clear what you want.

In general you get:
- "smooth motion" by if the content is interlaced, deinterlacing through bob deinterlacing. If the content is progressive (or after deinterlacing) you can additionally add frames through motion interpolation and you can replace duplicate frames through interpolated frames.
- "smooth surfaces" by denoising and degraining the image.
- "sharpess" by sharpening the image and/or, enhancing contrasts.
