Can look at it over the weekend, if you provide more details.
What are the restrictions&co for those levels?
Have you checked that x264 and x265 support those levels? (according to https://x265.readthedocs.io/en/stable/cl...level-tier x265 has no 8.0 level)

but I was wrong < x265 = 8.5
more details? what for?
x264 is supported and works < 6.0 6.1 6.2
x265 is supported and works < 8.5

Quote:more details? what for?Hybrid validates the number of allowed reference, buffers, etc. that are allowed per level, profile, tier combination to make sure only valid level can be used. x264 and x265 only partially do this, they only show warnings if a violation occurs, but create non-compliant content.
Quote:x264 is supported and works < 6.0 6.1 6.2The question was whether x264&x265 support those levels, not whether the lower profiles are supported, that I know.
x265 is supported and works < 8.5

yeah...
PS
I can't check codecs in Hybrid... it's too complicated...
Most likely "Hybrid" uses the old x264/265 library and therefore does not show "basic" levels
and therefore different errors when using 10-bit 422

In Hybrid encoders and decoders are usually separated, so not sure what you want to do.
But yes, Hybrid assumes that you know what you are doing, blindly switching stuff on and off, will not teach you about how video formats/encoders/... work.

Ps.: Sadly https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High_Effic...and_levels does not list level 8.5 => can't implement, without further details.
Found the relevan info for h.264 over at: https://github.com/mirror/x264/blob/eaa6...bles.c#L46

PS
I will use other software for x264 = 6.0 6.1 6.2
processes perfectly
good-luck
