Update to this thread. I figured it out
I was storing the file on my external hard drive, which was connected by USB. It seems like it had to 'scan' over the entire file before starting (not sure if file type related, these were captured in virtualdub as .avi files). With large files (many are in the order of 50gb+), this would take a while. I forget exactly what the Hybrid status text was at the time.
So I ended up just queuing jobs and running them overnight. If anyone else encounters the same issue I would try to access the file you're working on with a faster storage medium. There may be better solutions out there but that worked for me.
