[BUG] Unexpected Hybrid crashes before encoding
#1
Hello,
Beginner with Hybrid trying to re-encode Avid HDR video to X265 mp4, with a Macintosh MacPro 2013, the program is extremely unstable and crashes without stopping during mouseover or activation of a button during configuration (problem 1) and when I get to do a test run the job crashes always at the end in the mutliplexing phase (problem 2 may be linked) before writing output file.
• Hybrid V 20170506.1 MacOS 10.12.6 Sierra
• Mac : MacPro6,1, BootROM MP61.0116.B46, 4 processors, Quad-Core Intel Xeon E5, 3,7 GHz, 32 GB, SMC 2.20f18
Exceptionally, I join Apple Hybrid crash log in case it can serve you ...

Many thanks by advance for your help

Don't need an Apple Crash Log.
I need a debug output.
Ready the sticky.
Since you did not provide any details on how one could reproduce your problem and you didn't provide a debug output I can't even guess why Hybrid might be unstable for you.

OK Sir,
You will find herewith a debug file which, I hope, will help you to find the problem.
Here also a DL link to the "small" file used for my tests... It's a rather big file, but my purpose is to encode "edition format" sequences (here Avid) produced by DaVinci Resolve into HEVC UHD HDR for television sets.

I stay in touch for other infos you could need.
I will give you tomorrow further informations about various circumstances Hybrid can crash
Regards,
Jean-Guy

DebugOutput doesn't help since it doesn't include a job creation nor a job processing,..
I guess you changed the output folder after enabling the debug output and the rest of the debug output is located somewhere else.
-> Sadly I still got no clue what you are doing.

I am still learning how to use your tool : I am not a specialist for FFmpeg in command line mode. Apologies for the log error : I will try to do better now.
I have found something interesting : I installed an other version of Hybrid app into an other Mac session (non used : in Mac basic configuration) and this version does not crashes ! In other words, there is in my main installation and its extensions and various installations something that "tricks" Hybrid. Only "a good log" will perhaps help you to find if a correction is or not necessary.

Today and tomorrow, I can not look any further, but by Monday, I will resume the tests and will keep you unformed results.

Thank you for your help.

Hello,
I am repeating today my unfortunate attempts to use Hybrid hoping that we will be able to advance this disastrous situation:
What I have just done:
• Uninstall Hybrid completely from my Mac Pro 2013 OS 10.12.6 of all its files and dependencies (selective use of App Uninstaller)
• Restart the Mac with only Chrome, Mail and Hybrid as running apps
• Relaunch Hybrid by trying to apply your support procedure and set input, output paths and to activate debug mode before coming to the real crash problem at the end of H265 video encoding at the start of muxing.
Alas, I am unable to complete these operations because Hybrid crashes violently for a simple mouse over the window and under conditions seemingly random ...
I am very surprised at such behavior and wondered if I am the only one to observe it?
What do you advise me so that we can advance on this surprising problem?
I can tell you that my Mac is also in perfect working order and maintenance and that I have no problem using other FFmpeg GUIs like 'iFFmpeg', which it does not allow me to generate the metadata essential to the HDR10.
Thank you in advance for your help.

Did you install any application on you Mac that changes the themes look&feel add short cuts or similar? (changes the dock/menus ?)
What happens if you call inside a terminal:
PATH_TO_'Hybrid.app'/Contents/MacOS/Hybrid
and trigger the problem?

I don't think to have a 'Finder customization app' running (I hate them!) perhaps into Menu bar MenuMetersApp and Little Snitch change in realtime MenuBar content...
Terminal loading of Hybrid changes nothing! First crash with mouse mobile above 'path configuration window'.
Perhaps, you will see a problem into loading terminal messages ?
I (try to) join here a texte file for this...

Some precisions about unexpected crash during configuration :
I have found a fixed and reproducible situation to provoke him, even if it is perhaps not the only one ...
The conclusion is:

As soon as I entered the default input and output paths in Config> Path I can not fly over the Config> Internals area with my mouse without causing the immediate crash even before I clicked the button!
I hope there is an interesting indication for you? I have tried other default paths into the system disk rather an external one without a good result...

I found a "special order" to fill the settings, which allows you to go to the complete creation of the job avoiding the crash of overflight or selection of graphic elements.

This allows me to "run the batch" for a re-encoding task in real condition to end up with the second problem: the crash of the muxer at the end of the HEVC coding.

You will therefore find as requested the file 'HybridDebugOutput.txt' generated during this run.

I remain at your disposal for further tests or informations.
