Chapter extracted with Hybrid or any other tool will not help.

Quote:But same problem exists with with some other DVDs too that don't have differences in metadata between VOBs.
Same problem = their MakeMKV created mkv files get not properly identified, or something else?

Quote:Also seems i find another DVD that generates PAR problem. Will send you additional report too...
Please also specify exactly what 'PAR problem',...

Ouch, seems something broken in new version and Chapters/Titles in Hybrid are inactive now. So i can't export Chapter with Hybrid.
Subtitles also inactive
[Image: XcMPOsk.jpg]
Reply
Subtitles are inactive since none were detected.
Titles are disabled since there is only one.
Video is disables since there is only one.
-> chapter beeing disabled is a bug. Smile

Also like I wrote: Chapter extracted with Hybrid or any other tool will not help.

No, correction: audio, subtitles & audio might also be bugs.
(removed some code, which is probably causing this)

About the PAR issue:
-----------------------------
The debug output shows:
Pixel aspect ratio                       : 1.185
Original pixel aspect ratio              : 1.580
Hybrid by default prefers the 'Original pixel aspect ratio'.
Original pixel aspect ratio = aspect ratio info in the video stream itself
Pixel aspect ratio = aspect ratio info from the container

-> Hybrid works correctly, I think it would be a bad idea to overwrite this to ignoring the "Config->Internals->Prefer Original" setting in general for MakeMKV generated content. So I won't try to change this.

About the scan type and fps issue when importing MakeMKV:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Since extracting a chapter isn't possible, can you share the MakeMKV output file with me?

Cu Selur

Ps.: I can also try a blind 'fix' for this, but having a test file would help.

Ok. I see from log that Hybrid attempts to ignore 24fps metadata. Nice!
Prefering container (29.97) over stream frame rate (23.976)
Hybrid see it as "29.97/CFR telecine"

With some MKVs it works (i can see 2 interlaced, 3 progressive frames pattern).

But with other MKVs it don't works (i see it in preview as progressive video).
Hybrid see it as "29.97/CFR telecine" or as "24.204/VFR top field first"

But if i import DVDs originals of same videos, Hybrid see it as "29.97/CFR telecine" and i can see 2 interlaced, 3 progressive frames pattern.

Yep, seems that PAR problem is due DVD.

Original VOB in mediainfo looks like this:
Pixel aspect ratio 1.580
Display aspect ratio 2.40:1

MakeMKV converted it to:
Pixel aspect ratio 1.185
Display aspect ratio 16:9
Original display aspect ratio 2.40:1

So in summary - that telecine problem consists from two independent parts:
1. Some wrong metadata in first VOB file that differs from other VOBs in DVD and that force Hybrid to read it as VFR.
2. Some unknown metadata in MKV that force Hybryd preview it as visually Progressive looking content.

I can reproduce both problems when remux DVD to MKV with MakeMKV or with MKVToolNix GUI.

Quote:1. Some wrong metadata in first VOB file that differs from other VOBs in DVD and that force Hybrid to read it as VFR.
I'll look at the sample and see what I can do.
Also by default Hybrid scans the last .vob file of a tilte, unless "Config->Input->First/Last vob fo current title" is enabled.

Quote:Some unknown metadata in MKV that force Hybryd preview it as visually Progressive looking content.
Not sure what that sentence is meant to say.
Also not sure what preview you are looking at, etc.
-> no details -> no clue

From some point of view "Up" "Down" buttons also may be removed to increase vertical space for filters list and make things look cleaner. Drag-and-drop works well. Also instead of those buttons Ctrl+Arrow Up/Down hotkeys may be used to move filters up/down.
Bottom group of "Misc" preferences is divided by separator line form normal filters.
So this design version keeps 100% of current options in Hybrid unchanged. All works in same way, only layout for filters is changed.

if use logic from current Presets menu list, filters names in list may be compacted without need of triple sub groups naming.

Also some changes possible:
"Color Basic", "Color Matrix", "Color Misc" all became group "Color".
But "Color HDR to SDR" tools are special and so may became separate group "HDR" (this may be changed in current in Presets menu as well)

"Frame Interpolation" changes to "FrameRate Interpolation"
"Line - AntiAliasing" changes to "Antialiasing"
"Line - Darkening" changes to "LineDarken"
Frame - Stabilize
Frame - Resize (or Resizer)
Frame - Crop
Frame - Rotation
Frame - Letterbox
...and so on based on Presets menu list logic when it possible.

By the way, these small changes in naming and matching to Presets menu logic may be useful for List View in current version of Hybrid as well.

Example:

Following you renaming logic for the existing layout seems like a bad idea since it would cramp more filters in one view, i.e. all the color filters.
-> don't think I will rename things.

Having entries in the filter order with texts like "go to ..." seems like a waste.

But hey you seem to be having fun even though I told you multiple times that this will probably not happen, so may be you will end up with something that seems useful to me ('fingers crossed').
-> Have fun! Smile
