Short answer: No, there is no known auromated image interpolation technique which doesn't produce image glitches.

b. there are a few folks over at doom9 which try to improve the whole thing by doing multiple interpolation with different settings and merge them, but the results aren't really impressive,..
Due to the nature of the problem there are bound to be interpolation glitches.
