[BUG] .TS transport stream preview is stuck / doesn't work
#1
Version: 21.12.2024

Problem:
I have a .ts transport stream, load it, do a deinterlace analysis run and when i open up the vs preview, it starts with 1 image, and no matter where i click on the timeline, it shows 1 specific image (not the 1st one, but always the same) from somewhere in the stream, but does not show any other image when i click another point in the timeline...

I've played back the stream in mpc and videolan, looks perfectly alright to me...

Attached Files
.rar   HybridDebugOutput.rar (Size: 20,42 KB / Downloads: 11)

Transport streams often have broken headers which media players ignore, but source filters might not. (especialy dvb captures)
Also transport streams allow switching channel counts, resolution, formats, etc. which will not work in Hybrid.
Remuxing such streams before trying to process them is often a good idea.
Also indexing might take quite a while with transport streams.
Since I see no direct error message, I would suggest try using a different source filter. Smile

Atm. LWLibavSource is used, try FFMS2, BestSource and if you have an NVIDIA also try DGDecNV.
If neither of them works properly, try remuxing the file with mkvtoolnix and if that also doesn't help, to look into some tool for fixing transporstreams might be a good idea.

ok, i will try a few things.
(btw, i had no actual filters activated when i started the preview)

update1:
quite interesting. i activated some filters, without previewing the output, and started a basicvsr/ntire3 run on it.. it runs now with like 6fps and in 12hours, i'll now if it completed the task successfully.

Then the indexing probably just took longer than you expected.

you mean while trying to preview?
i had the preview window open for 2 mins, frequently looking at the taskmanager finding hybrid to be idling away with no cpu/gpu/storage activity indicating a search within the medium.

ouf.. another 5h29m remaining for the encode ...

luckily premiere reads the file alright, so i guess i'll do a transcode first.

Seems like a decoding issue, like try different source filter or remux before.
