No finished clips are outputted as the PC freezes up. All I get are some temp files.

That I understand, but that is not what I asked about.

So here are my questions again:
Does the Vapoursynth Preview work?
Is this reproducible? If it is, can you share a sample of a clip that allows to reproduce the problem?

Do you mean when I call the script or running Hybrid in general?

In Hybrid I get a Vs preview window, some jobs will run but most of the time the PC freezes up and then needs a re-boot. 

It's just done it again on another job. The fan is running loudly, too. I'll re-boot and send you the file and the script.

Can you reproduce the problem with the same file and script?
The problem is that I need a way to reproduce the problem.

I'm running the same file again, so far so good. 

As these random problems cause the PC to completely freeze I'm not sure how to diagnose the problem?

Hybrid should not be able to freeze the whole system, this usually indicates some memory, heat or driver issue.
Since you use NNEDI3CL the graphic card drivers might be at fault,... (since NNEDI3CL was last updated 2019 https://github.com/HomeOfVapourSynthEvol...h-NNEDI3CL)

I'm seeing  "Event 10016, DistributedCOM" errors in Event Viewer. Could this be somthing linked to the PC freezing when Hybrid is running? I don't know what else it could be.

Maybe run some temperature monitor.
This sounds more and more like some temperature or memory issue,..
