Pages: 1 2
Hybrid version: 2026.10.09.1 (Linux 64-bit, Linux Mint 22.3)
Problem:
When processing Blu-ray playlist
Code:
01768.mpls
, Hybrid extracts an AC-3 audio stream with a duration of approximately 2 hours, 55 minutes and 33 seconds, although the selected playlist is only 8 minutes and 33 seconds long.
The resulting MKV has the correct video duration but an excessively long audio track. The issue also occurs when extracting the audio without re-encoding.
Steps to reproduce:
  1. Open a Blu-ray folder in Hybrid.
  2. Select playlist
    Code:
    01768.mpls
    (duration approximately 00:08:33).
  3. Select the AC-3 audio track and enable audio passthrough.
  4. Start the processing job.
  5. Inspect the resulting audio duration.
Expected result:
AC-3 audio corresponding to the selected playlist, approximately
Code:
00:08:33.376
(16,043 AC-3 frames).
Actual result:
The extracted audio is approximately
Code:
02:55:33.856
long.
Investigation:
Hybrid generates the following FFmpeg command (abbreviated):
Code:
ffmpeg -y -threads 8 -analyzeduration 200M -probesize 200M \   -i "bluray:/path/to/BLU-RAY_DISC" \   -playlist 1768 -angle 0 \   -map 0:1 -vn -sn -acodec copy output.ac3
Notice that
Code:
-playlist 1768
and
Code:
-angle 0
are placed after
Code:
-i
.
I independently reproduced the problem using Hybrid's bundled FFmpeg 8.0.1 with the same argument order:
Code:
video:0KiB audio:411479KiB time=02:55:33.47
Using my separately compiled FFmpeg Git Master build with
Code:
-playlist 1768
placed before
Code:
-i
correctly extracts the intended playlist, producing 16,043 AC-3 packets.
The correct playlist consists of the consecutive clips
Code:
00780.m2ts
,
Code:
00781.m2ts
and
Code:
00782.m2ts
.
This strongly suggests that the Blu-ray playlist selection options are positioned incorrectly in Hybrid's generated FFmpeg command.
I have attached the compressed Hybrid debug output.
Additional information:
  • Hybrid's bundled FFmpeg version: 8.0.1
  • The problem is reproducible without audio or video re-encoding.
  • The Blu-ray source files have not been modified.
Not at home atm., please also try whether this happens with the latest dev R81 AppImage.
Will try to reproduce it when I'm back home.

Cu Selur
Thanks, Selur!
I tried downloading the latest R81 development AppImage from your Google Drive, but Google Drive reports that the download quota has been exceeded.
Is there an alternative download location, or could you make the AppImage available again?
I'd be happy to test whether the issue is still reproducible with R81.

I came across this section in the official FFmpeg documentation:

https://ffmpeg.org/ffmpeg-protocols.html#bluray

It seems to support the observation that the playlist option needs to be specified before the input.

Maybe this is relevant to the issue.

Will look at it when I'm back home.
I can confirm the problem with the current order ffmpeg ignores -playlist and falls back to its own pick (the longest title).
=> will fix and report back when a new dev is uploaded

Cu Selur
Uploaded the new dev to my GoogleDrive and Mediafire (https://www.mediafire.com/file/6i49yhelw...Image/file) which should fix this.
Thanks for the report.

Hi Selur,
Thank you very much for confirming the bug and providing a fix so quickly! I really appreciate your prompt response and all the work you put into Hybrid.
I'll test the new development version and report back with the results.
Thanks again!

Hi Selur,
Thanks again for the quick fix!
Unfortunately, the new development AppImage (2026.10.23.1) fails to start on my Linux Mint 22.3 system.
My installed glibc version is 2.39, but several libraries bundled with the AppImage require GLIBC_2.43.
The error messages include:
Code:
libQt6Gui.so.6: GLIBC_2.43 not found libglib-2.0.so.0: GLIBC_2.43 not found libmp3lame.so.0: GLIBC_2.43 not found libgnutls.so.30: GLIBC_2.43 not found
Would it be possible to provide an AppImage compatible with glibc 2.39 (Ubuntu 24.04 / Linux Mint 22.3)?
I'd be happy to test the fix as soon as a compatible build is available.

Not fast, but I'll look into it.

Hi Selur,
I tested Hybrid 2026.10.23.1 on Ubuntu 26.04.1 LTS and can confirm that the Blu-ray playlist issue is fixed.
The FFmpeg command now places
Code:
-playlist 1768 -angle 0
correctly before
Code:
-i

The resulting MKV has the expected duration of 8:33.376, and all 16,043 AC-3 frames are present.
Audio and video remain perfectly synchronized throughout the entire clip, including the end.
Thank you for the quick fix!

And there's no rush for an AppImage which runs on Mint 22.3. Take all the time you need.

Best regards
