sRestore - Hybrid Hybrid_2026.03.21.1
#1
Hello,

Iam trying to convert & restore dvd video material to 24p FHD using sRestore for fixing the frame pacing.

The dvd material is pal 50hz / progressive / SD resolution..

so in a nutshel...

The video encode processing in hybrid randomly  (9 / 10) comes to an sudden stop / halt after a certain percentage completed.  No errors ,no crashes.. it just sits there doing absolute nothing 🙄!!
Sometimes thats already at 5%, other times it still can stall the process at 80% ... !

When iam "lucky" , 1 out of 10 times hybrid completes the entire media file whitout interuppting the video encode process!

It's definitely sRestore causing it ..  Not the extra filters, such as the Resizer ESRgan.
Nor is the source video material corrupted in any way!!

HOw do i know that, i have put the source in a new Lossless format which made the og file 30x bigger btw... But that didn't help..
Using other containers didn't help ..

The source is recode from the original DVD backups .. ie: DVD9 / Vob to → m2ts (x264h) ..

So, iam currently trying the convert the same media file that has failed before...
And so far so good... Like i've mentioned 1/10 times hybrid WILL complete the process using sRestore !!!

fyi: using DebelendS6 is not an option .. ie: choppy video playback , no matter what the settings are !!

cheers,

Edit: I could try and create a debug...
But me thinks it will do lil to no good, because the batch process just stalls .. !
No errors, No crashes .. no nothing 🤔💭 !

In addition .. when i enabled the checkbox to create debug..  No debug.txt is created..
That is usualy created in the source or destination folder isnt it ?

Unless, that has changed in the latest build ofcourse ...

If not, maybe these two problems may be related.

Edit:
Acording to the changelog, DeblendS6 has been improved..
So i decided to re-install hybrid with the latest "Hybrid_dev_2026.06.18-193220" to try DeblendS6 as alternative to sRestore given my situation ..

Before, deblendS6 causes choppy playback , and people leave a ghost trail behind when walking !!
No matter what setting i changed for deblendS6, it couldn't be resolved..

But i have to say, DeblendS6 is indeed improved A lot since latest dev build.
Now playback is fluid and ghost trail situations are non existent 👍🏽.

Although, i have noticed i have to use the Audio setting "pitch adjustment" to get the AV in sync from the media file..
If unchecked, the video lags behind the audio..

But here's the odd part, when i choose 24fps as target fps i put in the deblendS6 setting.  The video playback is choppy and erratic again, but AV is in sync..
Now, when i choose 25fps as an target number for DeblendS6 .. Everything does play nice and in sync..

My goal and output file is 1080p/24p  ...
That said, when i want to change the target fps for deblendS6 ..

Hybrid always throws the following error    👇🏽 Dodgy

But the source is in fact 50fps
Just maybe ↑ this is causing the conflict ..

But at the same time , choosing 25fps as target number for deblendS6 does fix the choppy playback just pERFect ..
Not 1 single hitch / bump on the road during playback ..

Oh well, fortunately for me my settings do the trick  Big Grin👌🏽

Then something is wrong with your source.

Without a debug output and proper steps to reproduce I will not look at this.
Read the sticky, provide proper details.

Something wrong with the source !?
The source does play perfect though..

Also, i have remuxed the source in another and lossless format (UT vidoe).
But the same think kept happening.

When use sRestore, and when the job/process doesn't stall 9 out of 10 times..
The AV is always in sync , no matter what settings i use for sRestore...

Only DeblendS6 is for some reason off !

But with the settings iam not using for DebelendS6. The AV plays nicely in sync.
But more important , no choppy video playback ..

So, if the source is bad, why is it the output is just fine using my magic coctail settings for deblendS6..

If i could i posted an debug..
But as you know , i / we are working on that part.

Since debug files isnt working righ atm.. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Debug output works fine here, it just does not work with the settings you choose, since it was not designed to work with themtest

Both sRestore and DeblendS6 should adjust the frame rate according to the frames that get removed.
If you additionally change the frame rate you need to adjust the audio, otherwise the audio should be sync. (assuming it wasn't stretched beforehand, or the source if vfr or something like that)

No, iam afraid thats not it!

I have reset hybrid to its default settings.
So that iam not using my personal settings anymore.

I have toggled "debug" off and back on... , then restarted hybrid.
i manually have chose different TEMP & Output folders.  So temp and output folder is not the same anymore.

Lastly, i've opened a media file..
But hybrid didn't created an debug file of me opening a file..

Usually Hybrid does create a debug from the instant you open a media file.
You don't have to process and complete a job.

Iam strongly convinced it's not due to wrong (same) paths settings selur..

It's an odd issue ...

I have found out how i can create a debug file every time.
But it's a strange way of doing it!  Usually in the past hybrid did automatically created debugs on the fly, and every time saved it to the output path.   Even when "output to source path" wos enabled in config>paths.

Now, it doesn't create the debug in the output folder always..
Now, it creates and keeps the debug in the previous folder i have MANUALLY (important) have chosen and saved (save all)

So here are the steps to reproduce this phenomenon (hopefully!)

A. start hybrid > go to config and Reset ALL , then hybrid restarts.
B. go to Config > Paths : Choose only Default Output Path
C. go to Config > internals : Enable / toggle "Create Debug"
D. now click Save ALL (so that hybrid restarst with exactly these settings)

Now, when you load an media file.. a debug will be created in the chosen / default output path..

But here's the odd part...

From here on, When i enable a. "output path to source" + "Temp To Output" so that everything is kept in the same folder.. and press Save ALL as general preset..

Hybrid will keep creating the Debug in the same output folder that initialy is created ..
So, it's not created in the same output folder from where you load the original media files , you see!?

And this is unusuall behavior from hybrid..  In the past , hybrid always has created and moved the debug to the right output path/folder..  Where or whatever that folder was, hybrid always picked the same output folder as the original source file !

by ''additionally change the framerate" do you mean the "filtering > speed change" settings ?
If so yes, if my output fps is 24fps , i make sure the audio speed is adjusted to that new framerate aswell by decimal method ie: 25 > 24..

The source however is 50fps / progressive.. But when i choose 50  > 24 in audio setting, the video plays in slowmotion .

No, i have to use 25 > 24 + pitch correction for AV sync , and as for DeblendS6 the target FPS has to BE 25.000 fps for perfect playback and AV sync  Huh .

Thrust me i want to do it your way, but the settings iam using seems to be the only settings that perfectly works ..  Even when it doesn't make sense ...

Thanks though,

Hits makes no sense.
Try the following:
  • load your 50 fps source source
  • set DeblendS6 to 24fps
  • set audio to passthrough
  • configure
  • create your output file
The output should be sync.

About debug output. Following your description, I :
  • Started Hybrid
  • Reset everything (Defaults->Reset All) and restarted Hybrid
  • Set a fixed debug output folder (g:\Output) under "Config->Path->Default output path")
  • Enabled the debug output (Config->Internals->Create debug file)
  • Saved all setting (Defaults->Save All)
  • Restarted Hybrid
    It starts, reporting with:
Quote:This log is only intended for user information.
It should not be part of a bug/problem report!!
    Current defaultOutputPath: is empty!
    -> Set it under Config->Path
    Finished startup, finished after 5.86s
  • enabled "Config->Paths->Adjust->Output path to source path"
  • enabled "Config->Paths->Adjust->Temp path to output path"
  • loaded a source file
Looking at the code I think I see what the problem is.

=> looking into it

Argh, now I can't reproduce it anymore. (must have done something different during my first try, but no clue what)
=> are these the exact steps (and order of steps) you do?
  1. starting Hybrid
  2. resetting everything (Defaults->Reset All) and restarted Hybrid
  3. setting a fixed debug output folder under "Config->Path->Default output path"
  4. enabling the debug output (Config->Internals->Create debug file)
  5. saving all setting (Defaults->Save All)
  6. restarting Hybrid
  7. enabling "Config->Paths->Adjust->Output path to source path"
  8. enabling "Config->Paths->Adjust->Temp path to output path"
  9. loaded a source file

Yes.
To be clear Selur, once you done step 1 - 5, from there on hybrid keep creating the debug file in the same folder, no matter what output path you choose afterwards 😉.
That's how i get things done from where iam sitting ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.

Okay, that is how it is supposed to work.
-> can't reproduce a problem -> won't change
